RIGHTS & EQUALITY SUPPORT FOR PARENTS

I am Asma Rhaza from Rights and Equality Sandwell . I have been appointed as a community engagement officer for the BAME Communities in the Sandwell area. I speak Urdu, Hindi, Pathwari, Mirpuri , Punjabi and Hindko. My role is to help and support these communities to understand the coronavirus pandemic. I would like to develop outreach and engagement activities and encourage a better understanding of coronavirus safety.

I would like to offer our help and support for children/families from these communities and help schools to communicate with them or strengthen their relationship with the school. We are working remotely at the moment but I am available for schools or families via email or mobile. We also have a wide range of informative literature in different languages that can be displayed in schools, places of worship or community centers, where there are a larger BAME or Eastern European Communities.

We, as an organization, are offering a wide variety of support, please visit our website for more information. www.rightsandequalitysandwell.co.uk

My colleagues speak Slovakian, Czech, Russian, Polish, Hungarian and Italian.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if there are any issues you face with or you think we could be of any help.

Our service is free of charge so please rest assured, we are here to help and offer support.

The Council has developed a website for families, local residents and

COUNCIL UPDATES ON CORONAVIRUS

As more and more people are self-isolating there is a danger that the
most vulnerable on pre-payment meters will suffer fuel debt due to the
inability to top up. With more staying at home (including an increased
number of children), energy use will rise at a time when income may
drop and health could be compromised. The Government has
announced measures to help people affected. Details can be found at:

SUPPORT FOR VULNERABLE PEOPLE

The Council is in partnership with Agility Eco who administer the LEAP
(Local Energy Advice Partnership) scheme. Available to all tenures, the
