As we have gone over all the new areas for Maths this year, we will be going through some of the trickier areas once again this term. This includes: turns, position and direction, multiplication, division and 3d shapes. We are also practising counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
This term is the last Phonics term. We are working hard on our reading so we are ready for our end of year Phonics Test. There will be a focus on fluency and comprehension. We have already explored the grounds around school to discover what Spring felt like, smelt and looked before writing all about it. We have also written stories, poetry, book reviews which we will continue to do during the last term.
This term we will continue learning all about different types of animals. We are planning different experiments and investigations to find out how animals move, what they eat, how they are different from each other and much more! Our Summer Topic is also a Science based topic. Please read below for more information about what we will be doing in our Science topic.
Our learning challenge question for this term is “What can we grow and sell in our environment?” and our final learning outcome will be to run a “green” Garden Centre for all our friends and family. In order to be able to do this, we will be learning about how plants grow and how to look after them. We will be creating different works of art and garden decorations around our theme. We will even be growing some of our own plants! All of our lovely products will go on sale at the Garden Centre. We will be able to learn about plants from all around the world. We will also be attending a fabulous Tree Fun Lesson in which we will create our own piece of Tree Art. What a wonderful way to end the year!
This term we will be discussing Holy books and places of worship. We will be learning about how Holy books teach us lessons for example how to treat others. During this term we will also have a focus on Buddhism and Hinduism which will allow the children to learn about a range of stories, artefacts, religious places and celebrations.
This term we will be focusing on dance to show our emotions. We will be linking a few actions to perform a short sequence to a piece of music making sure we move at the correct time to the beat. We will also be working with the sports coaches to practise a range of skills to prepare us for our sports.
